For your Mold Remediation needs call on your SERVPRO of East Evansville Indiana professionals!
SERVPRO of East Evansville professionals know that molds are very common in buildings and homes. Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture, such as around leaks in roofs, windows, or pipes, or where there has been flooding. Mold grows well on paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles, and wood products.
Cladosporium, Penicillium, and Aspergillus, are the most common indoor molds.
Mold is found both indoors and outdoors. Mold can enter your home through open doorways, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold in the air outside can also attach itself to clothing, shoes, and pets. The attached mold can then be carried indoors. When mold spores drop on places where there is excessive moisture, such as where leakage may have occurred in roofs, pipes, walls, plant pots, or where there has been flooding, they will grow. SERVPRO of East Evansville (812)-471-3132, commonly receive mold remediation calls and have the knowledge to rid your home of this common condition.

Mold that's taking over a wall
Mold Growth Mold spores are everywhere. They get inside our home or business every time we open our windows or doors. They are on our shoes, clothes and other items we bring inside. Mold spores require the right environment to thrive and grow. A key element needed is moisture. It doesn't have to be the obvious wet carpet, wall, etc. High humidity in an area can accelerate mold growth. Four common areas where mold growth occurs:
1. Areas where a previous water loss has occurred. Water damage that was not properly dried can lead to a mold outbreak. Water travels into unexpected places and without the right moisture detection and dry equipment moisture often remains. Without the proper tools and equipment you should contact a professional to make sure everything is dry.
2. Basements and crawlspacesIt's common for basements and crawl spaces in the tri-state area to have high humidity levels. Water gets into these areas from hydrostatic pressure, poor drainage of rainwater and other issues. Once inside, that can lead to perfect conditions for mold to grow. A sump pump and/or dehumidifier can help eliminate water that may have gotten into the space.
3. AtticsYour roof is the most important barrier to keep water out of your home. Loose shingles, aging roof, ineffective flashing or gutters that have pulled away from the roof edge can be a weak point for water to get into your attic.
4. Kitchens and bathroomsLeaking faucets, toilets or appliances are common places to find moisture. Proper maintenance can reduce the likelihood of leaks. Running your exhaust fan can help relieve the high humidity that comes from hot water and steam. You may smell mold before you can see it. When mold gathers on a surface, it gives off a musty odor. Spores from the air land and start to form fuzzy patches. An air quality test can be performed to confirm if mold is present. If mold is discovered it can easily be removed so your home or business returns to a safe level.
